Treasury carries out dual functions; balance sheet risk management, and revenue generation through commercial and proprietary trading activities.
The Division comprises two units:
Asset & Liability Management Unit Trading UnitAsset & Liability Management (ALM) is responsible for day to day liquidity management as well as liquidity and interest mismatch risk management. In line with the ALCO directives and in collaboration with the Risk Management Division, ALM executes hedging decisions in a timely and effective manner. As revenue generating profit centre, Trading Unit maintains a very risk aversive strategy, that focuses on growing through commercial transaction volumes. The Unit aims to achieve steady growth in volumes and revenues with limited and well controlled market exposures. GBI's Trading Unit is a market maker in all Turkish financial instruments and provides competitive prices to its direct clients; being other financial institutions and indirect clients through other GBI Divisions. Treasury plays a key role in financial product development in order to enhance marketing efforts of Private Banking Division. The geographical coverage extends from developed markets to Turkey and other selected emerging markets, such as; Romania, China, India, CIS (incl. Russia and Ukraine) and Brazil. |
